Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Abstrakt

This project aims to grasp the problems and potentials in urban creative development and investigate the citizen involvement in this development process. It will do so trough a case study of the up-coming but troubled neighbourhood of Nordvest in Copenhagen, Denmark. The primary investigation method is an ethnographic and participatory action research inspired field study in Nordvest. This case study is discussed through theory of David Harvey and theories on planning for the creative class and city. In doing so the project enlightens and discuss different problems such as gentrification, and the lack of involvement and democratic processes in the development of this neighborhood. But it also enlightens and discusses the potentials of the creative development such as social and physical improvements in the neighborhood, and the potentials of a stronger bottom-up development.
