This master’s thesis develops a concept for a new website for parents in mixed Danish-foreign families. The website is called blandetfamilie.dk (meaning mixedfamily.dk), and is an online magazine. It deals with the special challenges, linguistic, cultural and practical, related to a family life across different countries, cultures and languages. The concept is based on the results of a concept developing phase in several stages, which combines anthropological methods with journalistic idea development. A macro analysis which focuses on factors related to the target group, the media and the market. A lifeworld analysis, which focuses on the characteristics of potential users, and their needs and interests related to a new website. Finally, a validation of the concept idea through qualitative interviews has been conducted. The master thesis concludes that the target group has some special challenges and needs for knowledge and sharing experiences, which the concept can help to fulfill. These are regarding judicial challenges, linguistic challenges and cultural/social challenges, which relates to the special family situation of the target group. The insight gained from the master’s thesis research combined with Danish and international literature on digital/online journalism and constructive journalism has resulted in a draft website, which can be seen in the concept part of the master’s thesis.
