This project focus on the current climate changes and how to fulfill global goal number seven concerning affordable and clean energy. The main problem in this report is to investigate whether or not biogas is sustainable now and in long terms. The project will go through a critical analysis of biogas as a sustainable technology and present pros and cons. Furthermore, we used qualitative methods as an interview with Sine Beuse Fauerby from a union called “Danmarks Naturfredningsforening” and a field trip to Solrød Biogas. We have worked with theories as biodiversity, sustainability and circular economy. We have used these methods and theories to obtain a basic knowledge for the purpose of answering our thesis statement. We have used the “Trin-Model” by Thomas Budde Christensen, Erling Jelsøe and Niels Jørgensen, as well as “Design Science Research” by John Venable, Jan Pries-Heje and Richard Baskerville as guidelines to answer our thesis statement. It can be verified that biogas-plants are an energy supply technology that contribute to a more sustainable Denmark, provided that we consider all the weaknesses associated with biogas-plants. In addition, we have made a visual presentation to make our conclusion easy and understandable
