The aim of this project is an investigation of the correlation between the different prominent ideas about children and childhood, and how these appear in the Danish municipal primary and lower secondary school. The project discusses some of the issues resulting from different, and sometimes opposing, ideas about children and childhood exsisting simultaneously in the school – specifically regarding the role of ’fingertip knowledge’ and social competencies in the curriculum. As the aim of the project is not to supply or suggest solutions, there are no clear conclusions, except that there seems to be some interesting problems in the way the different ideas collide in the school.
