This project is based on the mental disorder ADHD in a health-promoting perspective, with help and inspiration from Normal Fairclough's critical discourse analysis. This theoretical project intend to investigate and analyze the form "ADHD-RS", which is an aid tool for Danish psychiatrists and doctors to diagnose children and adolescents, in the aged from 4-17 years with the diagnosis ADHD.
The project's main question sounds: How articulated the unwanted behavior addressed through discourses in the ADHD-RS form, in order to diagnose children and adolescents with ADHD in the danish school system? And how are the structural frameworks in the danish school systems co-creators to inequality for the mental health of these children? Among other things, we investigate discourses and the language of these ADHD-diagnostic criteria in different social contexts. With further theoretical inspiration from Svend Brinkmann (Discussion and criticism), Michel Foucault (Power), Erving Goffman (Stigma) and Zygmunt Bauman (Neoliberalism) and more, we analyze and discuss this perspective from a health-promoting angle.
