Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Abstrakt

With this project our intention has been to examine the sustainability of conventional and organic farming with the focus on the following parameters: Leaching of nitrogen in the soil and its impact on the environment, human health when consuming conventional and organic cultivated/ raised nutriments, the impact of pesticides on the environment and human health and the carbon content in the soil. Based on our own examination of the carbon content on an organic and a conventional farm and literature studies we have concluded the following: Organic farming is the most sustainable agriculture when considering the environment and human health. The overall differences between organic and conventional farming in Denmark are not as significant as firstly assumed. The greatest difference lies in the use of pesticides in the conventionally produced nutriments.
