Throughout this project, the group have worked towards answering the question on how, an
automated solution, to the dirty state of train platforms around Denmark, would function. The work
centers on the design phase, and how to support it with relevant supportive elements. The designing
of an automated solution, were done with Soft Design Science Methodology, as the main design
tool. Also as a supportive tool the newly created “TRIN” model was used for analytical purposes, in
analyzing automation technology and all its relevant aspects. Supportive data were gathered
through interview with representatives from BaneDanmark, to affirm the need of the project, and to
gather data on the problem. This resulted in a design solution, which has been evaluated by the
group to have a potential to impact to the operation of the cleaning department of BaneDanmark.
The group has found the area of research troublesome, in the sense that a lot of bureaucratic hoops
had to be jumped through to be able to get any relevant information regarding BaneDanmarks
cleaning operation.
