In our project we will investigate the challenges when integrating people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) into a workplace. We will use the theory of ‘Mindblindness’ and ‘central coherence theory’ in order to investigate in which way people with ASD are inhibited. We will investigate three areas from the field of organizational psychology; communication groups and conflict in order to illuminate the challenges ‘normal’ people face when entering a workplace. Furthermore, we have conducted empirical work in form of a semi-structured interview with Thorkild Sonne, the manager from ‘Specialisterne’ which is a company that employs people with ASD. With the knowledge gained from our investigations and empirical work we will discuss the challenges of integrating people with ASD into a workplace.
