Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

The outcome of this paper started off in an interest in the medieval text Aurora Consurgens. The text uses references from both biblical and alchemical texts and is an exceptional example of the use of intertextuality. We will examine the text in three different ways, namely in terms of the uses of dialogue, emotion and the narrative is expressed as a mental transformation. Our concern with these aspects of the text leads to a discussion of the presence of a personified wisdom and a unique form of realization within the text. This sets off in mixing traditions from Christianity and Alchemical traditions. Part of our focus also include reviewing how the text relates these two traditions and sees them as an expression of the same message. Furthermore, an attempt to identify the text’s own knowledge tradition will lead to a discussion of the relevance and existence of such a tradition today.
