This paper is a theoretical discussion of the analysis of arguments. During the entire paper, I am presenting a systematic approach to the analysis of arguments, by using Toulmins theory of arguments as a systematic deconstructive tool, for creating the baseline of an analysis of arguments. This baseline is to create a foundation for using the rhetoric theory topics, on a given argument. By using these two theories, it is possible to go beyond a simple deconstruction of arguments, and use topics as a socially based theory to analyze how and why an argument is stated. The paper uses a real life case, as the base for this discussion, and showcases how the two theories in a symbiotic relationship, can be used to create an analysis of arguments, that is both easier to use and creates more useful knowledge of a given argument or debate.
