Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This study examines the use of metaphors in three texts written by different Danish authors. All three authors have portrayed the conditions of workers as well as the working class in general. By the use of linguistic theories we will analyse the metaphors present in the texts, and hereby try to uncover the significance of these in literary representations. In addition to this we will explore if the societal conditions present in the various periods has an influence on the portrayal of the working class, and furthermore if the portrayal differs through history. We will examine the periods in gene-ral and include the metaphors as well to validate the main points of the texts. Considering the examination and analysis we conclude that metaphors are created by the author, with the intent to create an understanding for the given time and subject. Therefore the metaphor can not be conside-red as an isolated entity but must be understood in the context of the time.
