Abstract This paper aims to investigate practice in the communal department in Slagelse ‘Integration & Netværk’, in order to discuss how other municipalities can be better at making sure that refugees and migrants get a job within their first years in Denmark. The study is based on interviews with employees that discuss their view on their work, their local collaborators as well as the state of the newly arrived refugees. We find that the employees focus on building trustrelations with the refugees on the basis of a clear mutual understanding of their commom responsibilities towards each other, as well as maintaining good relations with their external partners. The study concludes that the case of ‘Integration & Netværk’ points out that other municipalities could organize their practice in order to lessen their paperwork, and focusing more on the interaction with the refugee, the external partners, as well as between these.
