Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This paper examines which societal factors can explain the increase of anxiety, and the consequences of the aforementioned anxiety to Danish society. According to the main subject “The Uneven Denmark” we find this paper relevant as seen in the report published by Sundhedsstyrelsen that illustrates the burden of anxiety-illness in Danish society. The study first explains what anxiety is, this is vital to understand which factors increase societal anxiety; and therefore it’s consequences on Danish society. Furthermore, the study describes the role of unity, and it’s meaning to the traditional society and the liquid modernity. This illuminates the increase of anxiety. To further explain the increase of anxiety, and the consequences the paper incorporates the theorists Baumann, Giddens, and Beck; as well as their theories and concepts. These descriptions will instrumental in analyzing society- with a focus on individualism and unity. It is analyzed and discussed on if the theories can be correlated to the increase of anxiety. This paper cannot prove, but only sheds light on the correlation between the changes to living conditions and life-strategy for the individual in the liquid modernity, and the occurrence and manifestation of anxiety
