Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Abstract: This paper examines the placement of our young interviewee, Helene, from her own perspective. The purpose of this study is therefore to analyze the interview-ee by using the collected empirical data from our research interview, utilizing the specifically chosen theoretical concepts. We chose the semi-constructed interview for the purpose of collecting empirical data, and considered the selected psychological theories for our case. The inter-view was constructed by adopting the seven-phased theory by Steiner Kvale on a research interview, in order to collect the needed information for the analysis. The seven phases are based on seven issues, which must be considered and ap-plied throughout the process surrounding the interview. In order to cover the analysis from different angles we chose two theories from two different mind-sets. We have chosen Erik Erikson’s developmental psychol-ogy theory and Ida Schwartz’ critical psychology field studies to analyze the pro-posed issue in this study. The research interview was conducted in order to obtain a better understanding of Helene’s placement as well as the inner process. In addition to this we wanted to investigate her social behavior and commitment to other people with the pur-pose to determine whether her rough childhood has caused her any permanent damage. Through our analysis we concluded that Erik Erikson’s theories provide great advantages when looking at Helene’s upbringing, before her placement. On the contrary, Ida Schwartz’ theories can be used to examine Helene’s upbringing during the placement. It may in some ways be challenging for the two theories to stand alone in this context, as they both revolve around different issues. Despite this we reached the conclusion that they can be used in extension to one another, in order to acquire a better understanding of Helene’s placement.
