This project is based on a social constructivist case study of the museum Arbejdermuseet and its digital communication on its website. The project seeks to investigate how the communication is expressed through layout and texts. The results will help produce a redesign of Arbejdermuseets website and thereby improve their digital communication. The analyses are divided in two parts. The first analysis is based on a sociosemiotic approach, to form basic knowledge of the visual expression and also as a basis for the second analysis. The second analysis is based on empirical data from a group interview. This data will be used in a reception analysis as a method to examine how the website is perceived by schoolteachers. This will include the schoolteachers as a new target audience for the redesign of the website. The results from both analyses will be used in the reflections to create the website for the museum. The visual design and the usability is the two main problems of the existing website. Therefore the redesign seeks to improve these problems. Based on the analyses and the redesign of the website the project discuses different themes, which is: The theory and methods used in the project, the new website (product) and the necessity of museums digital communication especially on websites. Finally the project concludes that our redesign can be a valid suggestion to improve Arbejdermuseets digital communication.
