Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Summery Due to the interdisciplinary in the group of researchers with one at her bachelor in Arabic with a humanistic background and one at her bachelor in city planning with a social scientific background, it has been possible to make a thorough analysis of structures in and behind city planning of the area Blågården, announced by the Danish government as a ghetto and parallel society, and their influence on the residents in the area. An active research method in form of a future workshop with a group of women, most of them with a Middle Eastern background and with Arabic as their first language, has been used as a way of collecting empirical data to our analysis of the area, as well as a way of testing another method for public participation in planning of the city. With the research question: What are the permeating issues in Blågården according to a group of women residences, and how does their approach to how they are to be changed differentiate from that of the Ghetto plan by the Danish Government? The outcome of the future workshops is analyzed with an ontology based on Bourdieu's structures in society, with doxa, capital and habitus as the report's stable force. The three stages of the future workshop have each contributed with different interesting findings. The first stage, the stage of critique, draws a picture of mutual critique of the area between the women and the government, but radically different reasoning for the problems. Criminality and job and education are focal points, but whereas the group of informants finds that it happens due to poverty and exclusion, the government relates it to ethnicity. The second stage, the utopia stage, showed that the group of informants rather than have a wish to fight to achieve recognition within the neo liberal structures of the society wish to change the structures into more socialist ones, in which care and community are of a higher value, and economic capital does not define one’s ability to act in public space. The third stage of the future workshop was the realization stage. The women and researchers have started a process which is supposed to end out in a women's day in Sjællandsgadebadet in Nørrebro. The project is to connect local feminist and women groups from different backgrounds in the project to achieve both horizontal and vertical empowerment in the process of making the dream come true.
