Emil Høgsberg Kristensen & Philip Langgaard Wettergren

Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This project is a case study of the bus rapid transit system, TransMilenio, in Bogotá. The project will provide an analysis of the public transit system’s effect on mobility problems in Bogotá, based on theories on mobility and design. Furthermore, the analysis will examine how TransMilenio as a design can have an emotional and behavioral effect on citizens. Additionally, the project will present a discussion of how, from a critical realistic perspective, underlying structures and mechanisms in the society have influenced the development of TransMilenio, in the period from the implementation up until today, and how this development influences the city and its citizens. Throughout the project it is evident how important the interaction between TransMilenio, as both a system of mobility and as a design, and the context, which is constantly changing due to changes in the underlying structures and mechanisms of the society, is.
