A National project in a globalised world The focus of this project is on national communities and the way they manifest themselves. The Danish debate concerning national identity and its relation to globalisation made me analyse and discuss the Danish cultural canon as an example of a national project, within the framework of sociological theories globalisation and national communities. The problematic aspect of the canon is that it (together with the Danish immigration policy) defines an imagined community, which resembles what Bauman characterises as an excluding fear-community. It is defined as a reaction against and outer threat (or unwanted development) to counteract the effects of globalisation and individualisation.
