The scope of this project revolves around the falling popularity of craftsman edu-cations in Denmark. The interest in this topic stems from the observation that less young people choose a practical education in craftsmanship every year. Further-more, it seems that there are quite a few prejudices regarding this trade. Even though there has been introduced a new political reform trying to better the educa-tional system, we think that the problem roots deeper than a structural one. Through our field research we discovered, that it would be very relevant to try to tackle the image-problem regarding craftsmanship on social media. Therefore we want to illuminate the positive traits of craftsmanship and the craftsmanship edu-cation through a visual product on Instagram. On that account we chose to con-duct focus group interviews with primary school students in the eighth and ninth grade. By using discourse theory and the forms of the capital by Pierre Bourdieu we want to identify the values the students articulate when talking about educa-tion. Following we want to use these values to form an instagram campaign for Københavns Tekniske Skole (the Technical School of Copenhagen). Through our interviews we discovered that the students long for a varied formation with a sense of a good youth community and interesting experiences. Furthermore they wish for an education that promises them good and varied future possibilities. Hence we want to upload pictures that contain these values and show that also an education in craftship can contain equally positive attributes as an academic edu-cation. We thereby hope to better the image of the craftsman education and trade.
