Social exclusion of the homeless people is becoming an inscreasing issue in the big cities within Europe. The development of Copenhagen has moved into the suburbs and it is leaning towards creation of attractive arhitectual buildings and business districts. In this project, we have done a comparison study between newly constructed area of Copenhagen, Ørestad and the old area of the city called Indre By. We have observed how the the urban landscape is constructed, such as benches, sidewalks, parks, squares and bus stops to examine their potential exclusion towards homeless. Additionaly, participant observation has been used in both areas of Copenhagen in order to detect their usability for homeless people. This project is analyzing the construction of public spaces in Copenhagen through a comparison study of the old and the new area of the city to identify their differences and usability of public space for the homeless.
