Abstract

This case study has been compiled through a desk review and interviews
with key stakeholders, in collaboration with a Danish expert (Professor Tine
Rostgaard). For a video recording of a webinar where Professor Tine Rostgaard
discussed long-term care in Denmark during the Covid-19 pandemic and
lessons learnt, see CPEC and Nuffield Trust (2023).
After this introductory chapter we provide an overview of the Danish
long-term care system (Chapter 2). We then give a brief description of the
experience of responding to Covid-19, summarising a more extensive report
that was compiled as a ‘living report’ between 2020 and 2023 (Rostgaard
and others, 2023a) (Chapter 3). This is followed by an analysis of the Danish
experience during the pandemic and lessons learnt (Chapter 4). We conclude
with a discussion on why the insights we found are particularly relevant for the
English social care sector (Chapter 5)
