Abstract
This article is a result of anthropological research focusing on the sense of community among participants, aged between 15 and 27, in a Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church. All participants in this study have a religious background, and come from families who have been church members for up to four generations. I argue that their participation in the religious community is a result of the youngsters’ habitus and socialisation, rather than a question of faith. The article describes faith as a socialisation into a social structure resulting in all participants having the same frame of reference and therefore experiencing a strong feeling of community.
