    Resumé

Greenland has experienced several socio-economic shifts during the 20th century, characterised by interations between natural systems, climate change and the socio-economic and socio-technical systemm of resource exploitation. The focus is on the socio-economic characteristics of the two recent shifts, stressing three dynamics that have shaped both the characteristics and outcome of the processes.
