Abstract
The rate of the self-exchange reactions between 1,1′-dimethyl-4,4′-bipyridinium diperchlorate (methylviologen, MV2+) and its one-electron reduction product (MV+•) and between MV+• and the two-electron reduction product (MV) is measured from the broadening of the lines in the ESR-spectrum of MV+• in DMF. The bond and solvent reorganization energies λ(O) of these reactions are calculated.
