Abstract

This chapter revisits Peter Jarvis´s classic theory and research on workplace and organizational learning and discuss how insights from this body of literature may be used to throw new light on individuals’ relational learning processes during communicationally constituted participatory IT-design processes. It offers a new interpretation of the individual learner as socio-materially as well as bodily embedded by combining new process and relational theories (actor-network theory and the ventriloquist perspective on communication) with the classic individual learning theory of Peter Jarvis.
