    Abstract

In 1998 the Danish Society for a living Sea initiated a quality interview study amongst Danish inshore fishermen to determine to what degree different fishing metods can be regarded as sustainable. The results of the investigation will contribute to a decision making process in the society who is working to formulate criteria for an environmental labeling for fish procedure. The study is performed by fishing skipper knud andersen from the Society and three students from Roskilde University studying for the masters degree in environmental managment. This report presents the findings based on the first quarter of fhe interviews, which has been carried out in 34 ports around Sjaelland and Lolland-Falster.
