Abstract

Leadership plays a significant role in developing stakeholder relations for an organization. Here leadership is considered as processes of ongoing interactions unfolding among many actors in and around the organizations. The emphasis is placed on interactions between organisations and their stakeholders as the means through which leadership unfolds. A form of leadership that requires extensive engagement with emerging stakeholders beyond the organization, to understand the potential of the business model. The stakeholder perspective is developed and broadened by explaining the emerging interactions a leader engages in when developing the business model. Based on an empirical example from Greenland this chapter discusses how stakeholder engagement and leadership processes are interwoven and closely related to local indigenous knowledge. By understanding how stakeholder interactions emerge, a new and promising way for stakeholder engagement can be understood. It extends the understanding of the stakeholder concept by showing how leaders can develop the business model by interactions with emerging stakeholders
