Abstract

In spite of the increased tolerance for different kinds of sexual practices in post-industrial countries, infidelity is still generally condemned in public space and associated with unacceptable behavior. Nevertheless, a substantial amount of research reveals that infidelity is highly prevalent in both North America and Europe. In this light, it can be difficult to understand why people are unfaithful. Investigations into why this is the case, have primarily been carried out through quantitative approaches. Sparse qualitative research on infidelity-behavior has been done.
