Abstract
The article focuses on the importance of a proper conceptualisation of corruption for the study of both its consequences and causes. The conceptual shift occurred to a wide variety of morally dishonourable acts in implying corruption is mentioned. It notes that the discussion in defining corruption is centered on the public opinion which can be used to define acts as corrupt, the deviations from the public interest, and the definition of corruption with regards to the content of penal codes.
