Governance for Sustainable Development Goals in Cosmopolitan Governance: Basic Ethical Principles for Ethical Behavior in Public Organizations and Institutions

Abstract

This chapter proposes an ethical strategy for governance of sustainable development goals in public and international organizations to ensure transparent governance for the common good, peace, and peacekeeping in international relations. Cosmopolitan governance of public and international organizations needs to integrate basic ethical principles in management and leadership in order to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. At the same time, the sustainable development goals are important yardsticks for improving organizational governance in the sense that they provide support ethics and values-driven management in political and administrative governance of public organizations. With this the sustainable development goals provide important values for realization of organizational governance as stakeholder management, implementation of organizational ethics through values-driven management. Accordingly, the chapter presents ethical judgment and decision-making as essential for a good process of achieving the peace, peacekeeping, and sustainable development in the international community.
