Abstract

The chapter investigates design practices in the recently established architectural office NORRØN in Copenhagen, specialising in destination development. Based on the field work examined in the office, the chapter first analyses how narratives and cultural history are used in designing, Secondly, the chapter focuses on how design processes take place in the office, with models, storyboards, references and meetings, and mobilising materials. Central findings are on the role of narratives in designing places, on multiplicity to govern and hold open design scenarios, managing the absent-present, and on fellowship assembly collectives.
