Abstract

This chapter presents an overview of the different coping strategies that public managers may use to deal with the conflicts, dilemmas and paradoxes that emerge when expanding co-creation in a hostile environment characterized by the predominance of Old Public Administration (OPA) and New Public Management (NPM). The chapter also discusses the choice between different coping strategies that can be more or less productive. Finally, it reflects on what it takes to move from reactive and defensive strategies to more proactive and offensive coping strategies.
