Autoimagen, mirada, y imaginarios de identidad

This paper sets off to discuss and analyse the workings of self image, gaze and imaginaries of identity in contexts of collaborative knowledge production. The discussion will be unfolded in relation to a performance done in the session and a text about a situation at a cultural event realised by GALF (Grupo de Autoconciencia de Lesbianas del Peru) in the mid 80és in Peru.
The text in the centre of the paper was produced by a Danish feminist activist in a memory-work session realised in Peru in 2009 (Haug 1987, 1990, Davies 2000, 2007, Wiederberg 2011, 1998, Krøjer 2003, Hee Pedersen 2008). It was written to explore a situation where social differences between women were meant not to be of little significance in relation to what happened in the situation described. ‘The text’ is here seen as an opportunity to take turns with and critically deconstruct naturalised processes of interpretation.
I look at the impact of differences in interests when defining what is understood as relevant knowledge, differences in professional positionings, differences in research relationships. I argue that an exploration of what happens when a text change context can inspire a deconstruction of how we make sense of differences and impulse critical dialogue about how to understand social position, migration, sexual orientation, membership, family and gender, as well as opening alternative tracks for understanding and rediscovering the political dimension of collaborative research.
