Service design process requires deep understanding of the users. However, we some- times have no time and resources to conduct user research at the beginning of service design. In this paper, we propose the rapid user research in combination with ICT service design, which is a partic- ipatory design process proposed by the authors. We conducted two case studies and confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method. Even though the proposed method still has some limitations, we believe it makes us possible to design the new services in the participatory design approach with the limited cost of user research.
