Beskrivelse
This PhD project aims to generate evidence-based insights into effective, patient-centered Non-Pharmacological interventions (NPI) to prevent and manage delirium, and inform future clinical trials. The project follows the Medical Research Council (MRC) framework for developing and evaluating complex interventions (see Figure 1), emphasizing a systematic approach to intervention development, feasibility testing, evaluation, and implementation . This will be achieved in three interconnected studies.
Study 1: “NPI in the Prevention and management of Delirium Among Elderly In-Hospital Patients
A Scoping Review”.
Aim: To map and analyze existing NPI for the prevention and management of delirium in hospitalized elderly patients.
Study 2: “Development of NPI to Prevent and manage Delirium in Patients Admitted to Geriatric Care: A Co-Creation Study”.
Aim: To develop tailored NPI in collaboration with the healthcare staff, patients, and relatives.
Study 3: “Tailored NPI for Elderly In-Hospital Patients with Delirium: A Feasibility Study”
Aim: To assess the feasibility and challenges of implementing NPI in hospitalized elderly patients with delirium.
