Beskrivelse
GLONO is a research programme on how the Third Millennium Development Goal (Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment) is being turned into concrete policies and practices by seven donor organisations.
The donor organisations include South African Development Partnership Agency (SADPA), Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (DANIDA), World Bank, Islamic Relief Worldwide, Oxfam International, and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The GLONO project makes a theoretical contribution to the understanding of the relationship between homogenizing global norms and increased heterogeneity of donor organizations in development cooperation. Through comparative research on gender activities in these seven very different donor organizations, the project explores how heterogeneous donor organizations translate a homogenizing global norm on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
