The concepts and practices of student-as-producer (SaP) and assessment as evaluative judgement (EJ) advance the idea of students as producers and evaluators of knowledge and academic quality. As well as contributing to the development of what are called 21st Century skills, these can be seen to empower students as citizens through authentic and global learning. SaP and EJ are, in principle, intrinsic elements of PPL. The project examines how the transformative potential of PPL can be further enhanced by a more intentional articulation of PPL with the concepts and practices of SaP and EJ, and whether they can expand the way students can conceptualise the problems around which their inquiries are organised, become knowledgeable about how knowledge is produced and evaluated, and become empowered as social agents.
