Beskrivelse

The protracted nature of the Syria conflict necessitates a feasible and sustainable policy for 1) hosting and integrating refugees and 2) supporting the refugee host communities. Executing an appropriate policy response to the refugee crisis is in the interest of both the refugees and the host community as a means of reducing the risk of stigma, isolation, intra-community tensions, marginalisation, and even radicalisation. To this end the proposed project concept addresses the welfare of both refugees and the host community. It is thus important to develop a comprehensive and sustainable integration strategy to address the needs of those escaping the conflict and instability in Syria as well as subsequent needs and concerns of vulnerable host communities. The purpose of refugee and host community support is to protect refugee and host communities and facilitate opportunities for both communities to flourish in the short term, in order to provide for refugee return, rejuvenation and sustainable reform of Syria and the MENA region over the longer term.
