Research

My research focuses on cities and climate change. Particularely I study connections between urban mitigation and adaption planning, sustainable finance and ESD. This allows examining the urban climate governance and economic geographies of climate adaption and mitigation strategies and their potential synergies at various scales. In this context focues on urban foresigth and scenarios and examines the knowledge base upon which geographers, urban planners and architects shape the cities of tomorrow. This is a centre piece to my research in the study of green(er) planning and regulation models. Shaping low carbon and sustainable societies invites critical scrutiny, not least in the context of socio-technical change. Consequently, I also research the geographies of sustainable financialization, opportunities and risks to urban transition.

Teaching

I have supervised approx. 65 bachelor thesis and 25 master thesis projects, taught and examined at PhD level. My approach to teaching is informed by critical pedagogics. This means that I conceive learning as a process through which students enrich their individual ability to develop methods for knowledge production, rather than transferring knowledge to students themselves. I have taught invited guest lectures nationally and internationally e.g. University of British Columbia (UBC), Lund University, Aalto University, and King’s College London (KCL), SDU, AAU etc.
