Forskning

I work in the interdisciplinary field of performance, media and audiences. Within this context my research focuses on questions about audience experiences, cultural policy making and the notion of liveness. I enjoy working in collaboration with cultural institutions with regard toaudience development and organizational change.

Also, I have written extensively on the music history and music policy of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation and how this has shaped and been shaped by changing ideas of cultural value and music ontologies.

I hold a PhD from University of Copenhagen and a MA from University of Aarhus. My dissertation was an interdisciplinary investigation of music on television, and the PhD assessment committee consisted of Professor Alf Björnberg, Göteborg; associated professor Anne Danielson, Oslo; and professor Michael Fjeldsøe, Copenhagen. My supervisors were associated professor Morten Michelsen and professor Ib Bondebjerg.

I have had the pleasure of being visiting scholar at Stirling Media Research institute (hosted by Professor Simon Frith) and at the School of Design at Massey University, Wellington, New Zealand (hosted by professor Dorita Hannah).

Undervisning

I enjoy teaching and supervising at all levels from bachelor to PhD.

I often supervise projects around experimental concert formats, researching audience experiences, desing of participatory performances and cultural institutions and policy.

I have taught courses in Performance Studies, Analysis & Documentation, Designmethods and Project work, Aesthetic & Design, Performing Audiences.

I adhere to the idea that teaching should be both about, for and through the matter of interest, and I often teach using performative methods and understand learning lerning as an experience that happens in the relation between students, teachers and matter.
