Forskning

My research has focussed on urban politics, youth and violence in Africa. I have engaged urban politics through the lens of vigilantism, human rights, grassroots activism, and transnational migrant business networks. I have conducted more than 2 years of ethnographic fieldwork in Nairobi and almost a year in Johannesburg.

I have been involved in policy debates on security through engagements with the Danish Embassy in Nairobi, United Nations office of Drugs and Crime, and as part of an electoral monitoring project for the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office in Kenya.

I regularly engage in debates concerning development practice and research through my role as board member in PlanBørnefonden (Children's Rights NGO) and in FAU (Association of Development Researchers in Denmark).

I have previously served as Head of Studies for International Development Studies where I played an active role in leading, planning and developing the study programme.
