Forsknings og undervisningsoplysninger
I am a doctoral researcher with several years of practical professional NGO experience within the fields of human rights and humanitarian assistance to refugees and IDPs. I also worked on conflict analysis and conflict-sensitive programming - all in and around the Middle East region.
In my doctoral research, I explore state-society relations in the Iraqi context using methods from anthropology and ethnography of the state, the concept of sovereignty, and broader political sociology. As a practically-minded academic, this project involves extensive on-the-ground fieldwork and partnerships locally.
My primary area-focus has been Iraq, but I also have experience related to Israel/Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey, and some knowledge about broader processes in political history of the wider MENA region. However, as I am now in a global studies department, I am much looking forward to expanding my research areas and interests.
My other areas of interest include: history, food history, organised crime groups, militias, politics, political economy, scarcity and climate change and their role in conflict and migration.
