Forskning

Simon Bolwig holds a PhD in Geography from the Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen, 1999. He carries out research on sustainable energy, climate change, circular bioeconomy, and agro-food systems, with a focus on the role of firms and value chains in sustainability transitions within these areas and sectors. He has done research in European as well as in African countries, and has contributed to literatures on sustainability transitions, technological innovation systems, policy integration, global value chain studies, and development studies. He was Lead Author on the IPCC AR5 report Mitigation of Climate Change Mitigation (2014).

Undervisning

Simons teaching experience includes postgraduate courses on corporate sustainability reporting and climate accounting, sustainability transitions and planning, sustainability challenges, a graduate course on energy and climate, and an MBA course on sustainability management. He has supervised numerous PhD students in Denmark and in Ghana.

Simon is currently Head of Studies of Roskilde University's education in Sustainability Transitions. 

Ledelse og samarbejde

Simon has participated in multiple collaborative research, policy and innovation projects, within energy, climate, circular bioeconomy, and food, often in a leading role, with partners from Europe, the Nordic countries, Denmark and the Global South with a focus on Africa. Most projects have had partners from the private or public sectors. 

Management experience includes leading a research group on climate change and sustainable development from 2013-2019 and has been acting head of a division of 70 staff. At Roskilde University, he is heading the graduate and post-graduate programmes on sustainability transitions and environmental planning.
