Webinar: What might Richard Rorty have to say about the future of Higher Education?

Aktivitet: Deltagelse i eller arrangering af en begivenhedOrganisation og deltagelse i konference

Beskrivelse

The work of the American pragmatic philosopher and educationalist John Dewey has played a significant role in Problem-oriented Project Learning, PPL. Simultaneously, the neo-pragmatic thinking of Richard Rorty has played a significant role in the private library of many of the researchers within PPL. In this webinar, we wish to explore what Rorty – a self-proclaimed inheritor of Dewey – has to say about the role of Higher Education and what sort of consequences his views would entail for the future of Higher Education.

To help us think this through, we have invited Prof. Khosrow Bagheri Noaparast to give a talk on the subject. Bagheri Noaparast is a professor of Philosophy of Education at the University of Tehran. In his research Bagheri Noaparast has written extensively on the philosophy of education, covering topics such as deconstruction, hermeneutics, Islamic education, and neo-pragmatism.
