Based on ethnographic studies in Danish Secondary Schools, my presentation introduces and discusses different theories on understanding and exploring otherness. In line with my article, Danishness and the Construction of the other, I argue that through cosntructing the other as backward, exotic and uncontrollable, Danishness is constructed as a particular type pof cultural superiority.
