Beskrivelse

Geometric Analysis (GA) has emerged as a comprehensive research field over the last 10-15 years. It has its roots in early complex analysis and classical stability investigations of differential equations and has developed from last century's Morse theory of variational calculus and Index theory of elliptic operators. The field of GA is not determined by its subject area, but almost exclusively by (i) the virtuosity of combining geometric and analytic methods and (ii) its strong motivation by and intimate relation with concepts of classical and modern mathematical physics. While the frst aspect can dominate in everyday work, we shall gather experts in the field for a one-week workshop to elaborate on the second aspect. During the week, we plan to focus on the following three mutually related topics 1. Geometric analysis of singular or non-compact spaces 2. Kähler Geometry and Pluripotential Theory 3. Non-perturbative, in particular topological and conformal foundations of quantum field theory.
