Beskrivelse
The European Union is facing its greatest challenge ever. The US$17 trillion Eurozone, the largest economic block in the world, appears to be on the verge of collapse. EU states are struggling to solve a complex crisis across 27 countries and different economic cultures. Old political and social tensions as well as new conflicts among EU countries are emerging with each attempt to solve the crisis. Is this a failure of economic design, political and institutional capability or the basic norms necessary for social cohesion? What are the broader ramifications for the global economy and particularly for Australia? This forum will bring together a panel of outstanding speakers who can provide a unique insight into the problems facing Europe and its future. Speakers will analyse the EU crisis from an economic, political, social or Australian perspective with a panel discussion to then explore alternative analyses. The forum will be chaired by Nicholas Reece, a Public Policy Fellow in the School of Social and Political Sciences.Periode | 21 nov. 2012 |
