Beskrivelse

The event was organised as part of the course Liveable Cities within Nordic Urban Planning Studies (NUPS). The workshop combined academic presentations with presentations from local residents, activists, social workers, an architect, and urban planners, a guided field visit, and joint reflections focusing on the role of urban community gardens in the development of green, liveable, and socially sustainable cities. Based on a visit to the community garden Virkefeltet in Tingbjerg, the programme explored both the potentials and limitations of community gardening in the intersection between grassroots activism, community building, and urban planning. Søren Christensen contributed with an introductory lecture and a presentation of PhD fieldwork on urban community gardens and forms of collective organisation.
