Beskrivelse
Presentation for ORGADIVA - Organizing Democracy, Inclusion, and Diversity - Seminar. This presentation introduces an advanced draft of the manuscript Affirmative Genealogy: History for the Future. A Methods Book for the Social Sciences and Humanities (provisional title).
The book develops affirmative genealogy as a distinctive methodological approach for tracing the historical formation of values, practices, and institutions without reducing them to narratives of decline, inevitability, or power alone. Positioned between value-neutral historical institutionalism and Foucauldian genealogies of emancipation, affirmative genealogy advances a value-committing mode of historical inquiry oriented toward renewing past commitments in the present and future.
By articulating both philosophical foundations and concrete research strategies, the manuscript contributes to interpretive methodology, historical sociology, and social research, offering scholars and students tools for engaging historically with values as contingent yet normatively significant.
