Curriculum:1998: Cand.scient.adm. (public administration), University of Roskilde 2002: Ph.d in Political Science, University of Copenhagen Research and education information:My primary research area is new forms of governance such as network governance. Public authorities increasingly employ modes of governance not based legal sovereignty or economic incentives, and my work in this area deals with the form and function of these new modes of governance, the reasons for their emergence and their performance as well as legitimacy. I am a member of the Centre for the Study of Democratic Network Governance based at the department. Secondly, I do research within the area of political communication, the political role of the media and the transformation of the public sphere. Key questions here include political communication culture, media influence on the political agenda, relations between journalists and political-administrative institutions, the relation between media development and political mobilization and participation etc. Finally, I study the Europeanization of national political and administrative institutions. I am particularly interested in the way national institutions adapt to the combination of supranational and transnational dimensions of governance in the EU and the consequences thereof in terms of efficiency as well as democracy. Moreover, I am working on the Europeanization of national public spheres. Theoretically, I work with systems theory, discourse theory, organization theory and contemporary political theory. Following my research areas, I teach and supervise a wide array of subjects: public policy, organization and steering, the analysis of democracy, political communication, Europeanization, EU-studies, and methodological issues. |
